DIY Weaved Shirt

Since it's summer here in the Philippines, I used my time to reconstruct my shirt apt for the summer heat. I need some air to cool my back. Hence, the DIY weaved shirt. Too shy to show my back, so yeah, I have a pink back.

this is the original shirt

1. Cut the seamed neckline 

2. Fold the back and cut (make sure the result is a V shape)

3. Slowly pull each string

4. Weave!

*2nd string over the 1st string*

*then 3rd string over the 2nd string*

and so on...

cut the last string and tie the ends

Tada!!!

You now have a DIY weaved shirt.

Sorry for the not so clear steps, I'm somehow in a hurry. Only blogged about this DIY today because I'm wearing the shirt now, but I DIY-ed it a few weeks ago. I'm having a vacation at my aunt's house.  It's midnight and I'm at the porch alone. Gaaah! I have too many pending posts, but I must enjoy my summer than stay online the whole day. Purple and Gold Organization

Hello, everyone! We have just created the website for the Purple and Gold* Charitable Organization. Please check it out and know more about us. We are just starting out, so we have no projects yet. Since we have no sponsors yet, we will utilize our personal money for our projects. Thus, we will commence this summer 2012. Included in our planned projects are tree planting and giving of Bundles of Joy.

ABOUT

Purple and Gold is a Philippine-based charitable organization that aims to eradicate extreme poverty and starvation. Purple and Gold has a Green Chapter that pushes for environment sustainability. It also has Purple and Gold Scholars where it sponsors students in their education.

Vision:  A country where  the Filipino people earn a living to support their whole family, where every family is able to eat three meals a day, where every child enjoys the right to education, where people live in a sustainable environment.

Mission: To uplift the lives of the Filipino people by eradicating extreme poverty and starvation, by sponsoring scholars to attain proper education, and by ensuring environment sustainability for the present and future generations.

What We Do

Purple and Gold goes to poverty-stricken areas in the country and delivers Bundles of Joy and Loot Bags. Bundles of Joy consist of canned goods, noodles, and kilos of rice. Loot Bags contain clothes and school supplies. We also conduct feeding programs and fun activities to the area we visit. We also conduct livelihood programs wherein the resources are abundantly available in their area.

Green Chapter – The Purple and Gold Green Chapter brings awareness about the importance of the environment. We educate the people on how to do ways to help the environment. Our major activity is tree planting.

Purple and Gold Scholars – We basically sponsor students in their education, including tuition fees, books, projects, school supplies, and other expenses. The selection of scholars undergoes a deliberate process so as to ensure that the student will do his best in his or her studies.

FOUNDERS

Purple and Gold is founded by the sisters, Marcel Oyao Gemilga and Ira Vanessa Oyao Gemilga.

Marcel Oyao Gemilga is a 20-year old unemployed Political Scientist and a soon-to-be Law student. She graduated with honors from the University of San Carlos with a Political Science degree this year.

Ira Vanessa Oyao Gemilga is a 21-year old Registered Nurse. She is currently employed in the RN HEALS Program of the Department of Health. She graduated from Velez College with a Nursing degree last 2011.

Helping other people has already been instilled in the values of these sisters as their parents have taught them charity. The aphorism “Charity starts at home” was true in their case. They considered their father as the most charitable person they personally knew.

Purple and Gold has been conceived in the minds of the sisters when they were still in their high school years. It was a product out of their sheer and pure love for the NBA team, Los Angeles Lakers. Since the NBA has a program called NBA Cares, they got inspired by this and thought of creating the Purple and Gold Organization. Due to the uncertainty of the year it started, Purple and Gold is officially considered founded on April 2012.

Dimebag and The Scenery

The day after April fool's day was my April fun's day with Baby Dime. He's my cousin, but I treat him as my nephew, because I treat his father as my brother, though he's really my uncle. Understood? This kid was named after the legendary guitarist, Dimebag. Cool, huh? I love this cute little fellow. Baby Dime is irresistibly cute and cuddly! He just grew tall, so he's not so cute as he was before. But believe me, when he was just months old, he's a very cute fat baby with squishy round cheeks and eyes a la Puss in Boots.

Anyway, we went to their house then to the Baywalk of Naga, and tried every interesting food that my mouth satiated for. I was so demanding that day. "Ma, buy popcorn! Popcorn! Popcorn!", then got dismayed due to the popcorn's insipid taste. After that, we tried the Halo-Halo de Naga. Come on! Who can resist Halo-Halo on a hot, sunny summer? It was delicious! The slices were just a tad smaller than usual. For dinner, I demanded for Siomai. They say their Siomai is tasty, well, I salute them. Their siomai is indeed tasty, of course, when paired with the flavorful sauce.

Looking forward to another fun day with Baby Dime. Play with your cousins, nieces, and nephews. Have fun with them and create happy memories. Them spending their childhood with so much happiness is such a joy to see.

Earth Hour 2012

My Earth Hour pin last 2009.

I'm proud to say that I have been participating in the Earth Hour for 4 years now. I started on 2009. It's supposed to be 5 years, but my sister and I got knowledge of it last 2008 just 2 days after the actual Earth Hour! Anyway, did you know that I especially made a separate blog for my Earth Hour rants? Check out gibberishblabber.blogspot.com. It also contains some of my adventures. Sadly, I have abandoned that blog and placed everything in this blog.

Mama was with me during Earth Hour, but she was sleeping! It's the first Earth Hour where I did not go out of the house to check our neighbors' lights and the lights of the city across. I was bored! So I played with my phones and the camera. Then after a few seconds, I was laughing by myself. I even woke Mama up because of it.

Dare or DARE

Not Truth or Dare; it's Dare or DARE.

After dinner during Leslie's graduation celebration galore last week, we played cards - from unggoy-unggoy to 1234 pass to kalgaburot. We made twists with the games and more twists with the dares. No one was ever allowed to choose Truth, because Truth was not an option.

We had so much fun, that my tummy could explode due to excessive laughter. I miss hanging out with Grace, Dian, and Mona. They are my high school friends, and they are very chill and funny to hang out with. They effortlessly make me laugh. About Leslie, we hanged out the night on my graduation, which I honestly forgot to blog about. I'm sorry. Will be making a post in a short while.
