Sinulog 2012

VIVA PIT SENYOR!

Sinulog Festival is celebrated every third Sunday of January in honor of Sto. Niño, the baby Jesus. However, as it is a festival, people don't only gather around the Sto. Niño Basilica to pray, but also go out to the streets to party. It's always the same scenario, like Christmas. People love to party, so Jesus is not only the focus. We are superficial like that. We can't take that against people.

I'm sorry to say that I only attended the novena once. I'm not really a novena completer. I did not even complete the Misa de Gallo last year. I'm a sloth. Believe me.

Come Sinulog day, Page 15 of 366, Grace, Jel, and I braved all the obstacles for us to celebrate Sinulog together. It all went down to the three of us, because our other friends celebrated it with their families. Our Sinulog celebration was not all streets. Instead of partying at Baseline, where all the fun probably centered, we chose to stay at Ayala. We spent the afternoon at the streets watching some awesome street dance and stuff, but it was too crowded and hot, so we went back to Ayala. I wanted to go all-out crazy at Baseline, but I'm a sloth and comfort is my best friend. I could not stand the heat, the skin-to-skin contact, the mosh pit, the dirty-eeky paints, the sweat, the beer shower, and all those woodstock-like situation. I wasn't ready for that on that day. Some may mistake my laziness for being KJ, but hell no, I'm not. I love to have fun, my laziness is just too overpowering. Another new year resolution failure.

at the streets. Spot Pitbull.

Sinulog day was a restaurant-hopping day and GASTRONOMY! We went to SIX food shops - Tsim Sha Tsui, JCA, Dessert Factory, Chocolatier, Starbucks, and Shabu Way. Tempting food is just tempting. We love our tummies too much, but we hurt our wallets. All empty at the end of the day. We also went to Formo at BTC.

at Tsim Sha Tsui

at Dessert Factory. Bryan is handsome. haha

Chocolatier

at Chocolatier with the pretty Shelly and her boyfie, Kenneth

at Starbucks

with Grace's friend, Jera (uncertain of the spelling)

with the fashionable Dale

at Shabu Way. Thanks to Momsi.

Jel and I's achievement. LOL

Forgive us for the low-quality photos. All were taken using our camera phones. Something is weirdly wrong with our cameras, so we didn't bring them. Relied to our ever trusty camera phones instead. My camera phone also went crazy on that day, it changed its settings by its own. That won't stop us. I love Sinulog and I love my friends!

It's fun in Cebu.
It's more fun in the Philippines.

  1. Thanks for dropping by my blog. I've been to Cebu when I was a little girl but I've never tried going to Sinulog festival ever. Hope to experience it one day! :)
